Did you know that the #1 reason for married couples to divorce is because they fall out of love? Apparently we are all too busy multitasking that we lose sight of the things that make our heart beat a bit faster.
The flip side to this is to obviously keep on falling in love with your spouse. For me, nothing makes me feel as reconnected with my husband than when we go on a dinner date. I love getting dressed up with purpose and having dinner out, it is one of my favourite things to do with my husband.
Last night we hit up a 'new-to-us' spot in Gastown called L'Abbatoir; a very fresh and funky spot with a great cocktail menu. I chose 2 perfectly mixed cocktails to enjoy while we relaxed and talked and giggled. The meal we had following these delicious cocktails was perfect too and we left so satisfied and in love.
Clover Club Refashioned ~ Gin, fresh raspberries, sweet vermouth, mint, fresh lemon
El Camino~ Watermelon-infused tequila, Campari, fresh lime, grapefruit pop, salt
What makes you feel fresh and in love? Do you love going out on dinner dates as much as I do? I'm seriously already looking forward to the next one and very thankful that our babysitter (my sis!) has the summer off from work. It's the summer of dinner dates I tell you! Which means it's also the summer of love.

Well, Hello There!
Mama in the City since 2008 and blogging since 2009!
My first apartment baby is now a full on boy and we struggle with finding space in our condo for his growing toy collection. I'm also a new mum to our second apartment baby, born January 13, 2012!
I have a husband who is an excellent cook and takes amazing photos. I work as a labor and delivery nurse and really love the work that I do and gave birth to baby #2 at my work place.
I use this space to write about my family and to share my passion about breastfeeding, birth and parenting. I have a fantastic purse collection and have loved watching it grow, mostly lovely gifts over the years from my husband. I currently have a closet full of purses that are too small or impractical to fit a diaper or sippy cup in, and so they are on hold for future years.
Have a question or a comment? Email me! I also love to read comments left on posts, so feel free to leave me a note!

i so love a great dinner date out. but i will be the first to admit that it does not happen often enough. this is a great reminder to me to book it in! my other favourite date is hiking together. i love how conversation flows while accomplishing a great hike! ; )
July 14, 2012 at 12:42 AMWe do love dinner dates. We are definitely food and drink lovers. It's best/ most romantic when we get to leave the baby with grandma though! (of course) ;)
July 14, 2012 at 10:12 AMYes! That is a must for really enjoying the dinner date. No babies allowed ;)
July 14, 2012 at 10:39 AMI think I love dinner dates so much because it can be done in 2 hours. Josie is still an 'all mamas' girl and that limits my time from her. Which we are both totally okay with. Back when we were kidless we did a lot of dining out and so it is sort of reminiscent of that too. I miss all evening/night date. This dinner reservation was for 6 PM and we were home just after 8 PM. Still, it was good!
July 14, 2012 at 10:41 AMLucky baby J doesn't have separation issues! I can't get a 20min haircut without Max freaking cuz he can't find me :0(
July 14, 2012 at 8:26 PMOh that is so hard Mitzi! Have you ever had the other person wear baby M while you are out? With Ben, I found this SO helpful. Plan your outing around a time you think he might be napping and have the person do some baby wearing to help induce the sleepies?
July 14, 2012 at 9:51 PMhe used to love being on the ergo, now he gets upset. boooo
July 15, 2012 at 9:08 PMWe love going out for dinner on our own when our parents are visiting. I think I need to make more of an effort to dress up and make a night of it. Thanks for the reminder. And can I just say those drinks look amazing.
July 17, 2012 at 11:50 AMJust met up with a friend who just got divorced for that exact reason. No big thing just not in love (3 kids). Thanks for the tip!
