This past September Ben got a few birthday cards in the mail and he loved receiving each and everyone. After his birthday passed he asks me regularly if any of the mail is just for him. Sometimes there is a card for the whole family but nothing is ever just for Benjamin.
We have a daily ritual of going outside to play and then coming in and checking the post box. He knows which box is ours and that it takes the little key on my key ring. He gets a lot of enjoyment helping to put the key into the box and peeking in to see whats inside. In the last few days we've started to receive Christmas cards and he is full of childhood delight helping to pull the envelopes out of our mail box. Especially now that he knows how to recognize his name, a bonus of having a 3 lettered name.
Today we opened the mail box and he found a tiny white envelope addressed exclusively to 'Mr. Ben' and he literally squealed with excitement. He ripped open the envelope and was happy to have a sparkly blue penguin card in his little hands. More sweet cheer came when he opened up the card and out popped a bunch of stickers.
'Mum, it says B-E-N. Those are my letters!'
A holiday sticker explosion! Ben couldn't believe it when they all rained down on him.
I love simple childhood delights like this and have my own fond memories of getting letters in the mail when I was small. We often had friends and family in England that would send notes and cards and sometimes little presses too. It was a real treat to get something in the mail just for you!

Well, Hello There!
Mama in the City since 2008 and blogging since 2009!
My first apartment baby is now a full on boy and we struggle with finding space in our condo for his growing toy collection. I'm also a new mum to our second apartment baby, born January 13, 2012!
I have a husband who is an excellent cook and takes amazing photos. I work as a labor and delivery nurse and really love the work that I do and gave birth to baby #2 at my work place.
I use this space to write about my family and to share my passion about breastfeeding, birth and parenting. I have a fantastic purse collection and have loved watching it grow, mostly lovely gifts over the years from my husband. I currently have a closet full of purses that are too small or impractical to fit a diaper or sippy cup in, and so they are on hold for future years.
Have a question or a comment? Email me! I also love to read comments left on posts, so feel free to leave me a note!

aw that is an exciting day for Mr. Ben! I still love getting cards/letters in the mail so I can only imagine how much a child would love getting stuff.

December 14, 2011 at 7:00 PMThis is soooooo sweet. Such a simple pleasure, a little card sent just to him and STICKERS. Goodness, I love children. That kind of innocence is so refreshing.
