Oh the fun times you can have at a fair in the city. Bring on the farm animals, the dog shows and all the fair food you can eat. Deep fried anything seemed to on the top of the menu at most joints. We didn't indulge in any deep fried Oreos but we did introduce our boy to those delicious mini donuts that only the fair can make just right.
Outings like these are definitly a lot different when you go with a nearly one year old and we didn't end up staying too long or seeing too much. We took Ben to the Super Dogs show to watch all the tricks but Ben preferred to giggle and smile at a girl sitting to the right of me. She had long dark hair and Ben was quite intrigued by her and let her know as he tried to jump into her arms. No lies, totally true.
We went and looked at an exhausted pig and her 8 piglets who looked like they were responsible for the mama pig's fatigue. Those little piglets are crazy nursers and so vicious too! We saw fancy chickens and sheep and calves and had a good old day out at the fair in the city.

Well, Hello There!
Mama in the City since 2008 and blogging since 2009!
My first apartment baby is now a full on boy and we struggle with finding space in our condo for his growing toy collection. I'm also a new mum to our second apartment baby, born January 13, 2012!
I have a husband who is an excellent cook and takes amazing photos. I work as a labor and delivery nurse and really love the work that I do and gave birth to baby #2 at my work place.
I use this space to write about my family and to share my passion about breastfeeding, birth and parenting. I have a fantastic purse collection and have loved watching it grow, mostly lovely gifts over the years from my husband. I currently have a closet full of purses that are too small or impractical to fit a diaper or sippy cup in, and so they are on hold for future years.
Have a question or a comment? Email me! I also love to read comments left on posts, so feel free to leave me a note!

That is just so super cool, I love the series of pics too. Nice sling and it seems like you wear it quite a lot with your boy. Mama in the city out with the farm animals. Terrific!
August 30, 2009 at 2:03 PMBen is getting too cute for words! You must be strong carrying him around like that. I wonder if my dear Morgy Porgy has surpassed him in weight yet?!!!

You seem to be such a calm nuturing mother. Never looking stressed and always looking glamorous and fashionable. I always feel like such a pile of crapola so I am not sure how you do it! How much does Ben weigh now. We want more Ben updates!!! What is he up to and what new things is he doing?

You left out the best photo of you two posing for the sand castle competition; I'll attach it here.
August 31, 2009 at 2:21 AMAnd that poor mama pig with the one piglet who was insistent on getting more milk to come in... funny how everyone flocked to see the pig breastfeeding but imagine if that were a rocking chair with a human mother and baby on display. There would be letters to The Province galore.
Thanks Lesley! Ben is 23 pounds right now! The boy is too active for words, eats like a teenage boy and moves almost every minute he is awake. Food goes in and food burns off. He has mastered the sign for 'more food' in the last two weeks. So, now he is constantly 'more food! more food'.
